Medical Mission 2009 “Anniversary with a Cause”

Now in line with our project structure, we propose to organize a Medical Mission 2009. It is the sixth of the series of medical campaign that we started last May 2005 in cooperation with medical practitioners from different organizations spearheaded by Dr. Ivan Escartin, Dr. Lito & Dra. Josephine Fernandez of the Philippine Embassy, and other volunteer Nurses, Dentist’s and Medical Technologist’s, with the approval of Ministry of Health of Bahrain. It was followed by another successful Medical Mission last October 2005 and 2006, November 2007 and October 2008 where about 1000 Filipinos received free medical and dental services.

We plan to schedule the Medical Mission 2009 on October 2 (Friday) at the premises of POLO-OWWA, Office of the Philippine Embassy, Zinj, Bahrain.

The registration will start at 7am until 3pm only and we are expanding this program with the following activities:
a)     Free Dental Services at the Philippine School on October 9
b)     On the Spot Painting Contest (by Gulf Photographers Network and Triskelion Creative Team)

Medical mission and public services are just few of the ongoing projects of Triskelion around the world especially in the Gulf Region. The Tau Gamma Phi is founded on October 4, 1968, to catalyze the traditional system of brotherhood and change for the society. As part of the Triskelions’ Vision to help people in need and to contribute to society’s welfare in general, our 41st founding anniversary with a cause goes by the theme “Excellence Is At Its Best When It Is Shared”

"TIKOB SIGMA holds thanksgiving activity for POLO-OWWA tenants"  By Bench Medina

The Sigmas of Triskelion International Kingdom of Bahrain (TIKOB) successfully held another socio-civic project over the weekend at the Philippines Overseas Labor Offices/Overseas Workers Welfare Association (POLO/OWWA) grounds.

The one-day activity held last Thursday, August 13th at 7p.m.

An opening prayer led by Sis. Mahalina Peñaflor, Chairman of the Master Triskelions, started the event.  Ms.Alice Lim, OWWA welfare officer, also delivered a few inspiring words for the tenants.

There are almost 50 people seeking shelter in the OWWA premises – mostly runaways - and they were all present in the thanksgiving dinner which was prepared by the TIKOB Sigma, led by Grand Lady Triskelion Angie Villanueva.

The tenants, in return, presented an entertainment number. One group performed a dance number made popular by the all-female Filipino group Sexbomb. Three of the tenants surprised everyone with their singing prowess and brief poetry session.

The food was sponsored by Montro Intercontinental Restaurant and was served by the Sigma and Triskelion Volunteers.

The thanksgiving- dinner event has been a regular project in the POLO/OWWA headed by our Tau Gamma Sigma’s together with the welfare office of the Philippine Embassy. It is one of the regular projects of TIKOB together with Pinoy Bands, Fiesta ng OWWA, and Medical Mission to name a few.

Other individual sponsors of the event included Mr. Ali Alghata, Ms. Lisa Lechgar-Ball, Mr. Mark Lazell, Ms. Ban Barkawi, Sis Mylene Asuncion and Sis Warnie Alejandro.
