THE GAWAD Kalinga Bahrain Chapter, ANCOP Gawad Kalinga Bahrain was formally formed under the auspices of the Philippine Embassy on 1 November 2005. Managed by a group of ten well known members of the filipino community in Bahrain which comprises the Executive Committee with no less than HE Ambassador Eduardo Pablo Maglaya and Hon Consul Indhira Banares as members, the group has undertaken several fund raising activities in order to build the first GK Bahrain Village in General Santos City in Southern Philippines. A number of civic concious individuals who believe in the cause of Gawad Kalinga have also donated/pledged funds for the project.

Several groups such as the Triskelion International Bahrain, Fil-Am Group in the Naval Base, and the Couples of Christ have contributed to this cause. The Triskelion held a Filipino Bands Concert for Charity on 17th December 2006 at the Delmon Hotel and part of the proceeds donated to GK. The Fil-Am group also held a party with the aim of raising funds for GK. Last December the various group of the Couples for Christ held their Annual Carole Singing and the proceeds of this also given to GK.

The GK Bahrain held the Salsa Latino Dance event on 3 November 2006 which raise funds for 8 houses.

GK Bahrain will soon complete its first GK Bahrain Village in Baranggay Mabuhay, General Santos City, in Southern Philippines with 40 houses, a basketball court and medical clinic. The inauguration is expected to take place in December 2007.

Upon the completion of GK Bahrain Village, the second village, the site of which is currently finalised, will be started.

Ancop GK Bahrain extends its sincerest thanks and appreciation to all its donors as well as those in one way or another have contributed to the building of the first GK Bahrain Village.

Let us work together to realize our dream of: "GK One World - One Hope, One Vision, One Global Army Against Poverty".

Medical Mission 2007

“It is because we simply care, we’d like to make our share…”

Simple acts of kindness and caring merits us the privilege of progressing to the real essence of our being. It is through this generous involvement that constitutes us to connect to our fellows especially those who have touched our hearts.

Adhering firmly to its objectives, our fraternity, the Triskelion International - Kingdom of Bahrain, the consolidation of Tau Gamma Phi and Tau Gamma Sigma, is always active in participating and promoting various charitable services especially to the Filipino community. Since its first establishment under the auspices of the Philippine Embassy on June 24, 2004 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, our fraternity has dynamically accomplished a number of activities to be able to reach out to the needy and be of benevolent service to the people. These noble causes are in coordination with various institutions for the benefit of our less fortunate compatriots and other victims of natural calamities.

Now in line with our projects structure, we successfully organized the Medical Mission 2007. It is the fourth of the series of medical campaign that we started last May 2005 in cooperation with medical practitioners from different organizations spearheaded by Dr. Ivan Escartin, Dr. Lito & Dra. Josephine Fernandez of the Philippine Embassy, and other volunteer nurses and dentists. With the approval of the Ministry of Health–Bahrain, It was followed by another successful Medical Mission last October 2005 then on October 2006 where about 580 Filipinos received free medical and dental services (772 as of Nov. 9, 2007).

The MM2007 held on November 9 at the premises of POLO-OWWA Philippine Embassy Bahrain is a free service organized by TI-BAHRAIN. The Chairman of this event Bro. Allan Terceno R.N., would like to thank who contributed to make this outreach program possible especially the Medical and Dental volunteers, Sponsors and all the Filipinos who participated in the event.

Registration started at 8:AM until 3 in the afternoon and we’re expanding this program with the following activities:

a. Dental Outreach and On the Spot Painting Contest at the Philippine School-Bahrain on November 30 (sched arranged with the Principal)

b. Digital film showing of “Care Home” — the movie is an empowering story of immigrant workers particularly caregivers. It presents the struggles of every immigrant or Filipino overseas worker. (http://www.carehomethemovie.com/)

Medical missions and public services are just a few of the ongoing projects of Triskelions around the world especially in the Gulf Region. The Tau Gamma Phi was founded on October 4, 1968 to catalyze the traditional system of brotherhood and change for the society. As part of the Triskelion’s Vision to help people in need and contribute to society’s welfare in general, our 39th founding anniversary with a cause goes by the theme: "One step towards the leap to Fraternal Excellence”.

Appreciation of participation to the ff: MM2007 Volunteers, Al Abraaj Restaurant, Gulf Photographers, Dr. Abdul Jalil Zainal, Sheefa Al-Jazeera Medical Centre, Bahrain Optician, HBCG-Bahrain, Sheraton Hotel, Diplomat Hotel, Edmark-Bahrain, Engr.
